Job Description

Dewberry is hiring a Training Specialist to join our Training and Development Team. Our team designs, develops, and delivers training solutions that align with Dewberry’s strategic business goals to drive organizational performance. This includes robust programs for employees enterprise-wide that build skills in leadership development, interpersonal communication, project management, and client management. We also manage the administration of courses for compliance with corporate policies and health, safety, and environmental requirements to support risk management.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a learning and development role. We are looking for a strategic thinker, enthusiastic collaborator, and exceptional communicator who is comfortable working with all training modalities and who is motivated to learn more about a variety of learning and development functional areas. The Training Specialist supports our training managers and interacts with facilitators, vendor partners, training participants, operations managers, and other stakeholders before, during, and after training events. The individual in this role must be a strong project manager who can support many different workstreams and portfolios. The goal is for the individual in this role to take on ownership of at least one training program, with increasing responsibility over time. This is a hybrid role; must be onsite in the Fairfax office at least three days a week. Some brief travel may be required, typically up to 4 times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external SMEs to assist in the development of learning content.
  • Manage preparation and distribution of course materials using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Create communication deliverables to support training and Training and Development team messaging (training agendas, rosters, handouts, PowerPoints, intranet posts and content, etc.).
  • Proactively manage communications with vendor partners, facilitators, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage training vendor contracts, purchase orders, and invoices and track against annual budget.
  • Manage event close-out procedures and maintain documentation, archives, and relevant information for future use and reference.
  • Manage the request and setup process to implement DiSC® assessments for teams and individuals.
  • Assist with course evaluations and create reports on regular basis to provide data on course enrollments and completions, evaluations, and other metrics to measure impact of training offerings and determine areas for improvement.
  • Manage administration of the annual training nominations process.
  • Provide logistics support and coordination in the scheduling and delivery of in-person, live virtual, and online training events for employees enterprise-wide.
  • Manage participant registration and communications, classroom setup, AV setup and support, and food and beverage catering services.
  • Provide onsite event support to ensure seamless delivery for approximately 30 classroom days during the year. Some events will go into the evening hours.
  • Document processes and continually strive to improve training processes for increased efficiency.
  • Maintain training calendar.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, Psychology, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate learning and development environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Desire to help others gain the skills they need to succeed
  • Enthusiastic learner who views challenges as opportunities to grow
  • Ability to provide customer service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive, and respectful
  • Advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles
  • Familiarity with training measurement tools such as the Kirkpatrick learning and evaluation method
  • Familiarity with the DiSC® Workplace Profile desired
  • Willingness to tackle a wide variety of projects
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload as needed to meet schedules
  • Comfortable interacting with executives and other senior-level individuals and supporting staff with different work styles
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and training partners in a clear, precise, and thorough manner.
