The role

We’re looking for an experienced Training Officer to join our team Health, Safety and Training team and support the delivery and coordination of underground training and competency programs across site.

As the Training Officer, you will provide support to the business and our employees by:

  • Assist in the development, delivery and assessment of underground training and competency programs.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and competency assessments in line with the site Training Needs Analysis.
  • Maintain accurate training records and Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
  • Manage Permits to Train and monitor progression through to competency sign-off.
  • Work closely with supervisors to ensure crews are trained and authorised for allocated tasks.
  • Ensure training materials and assessments remain current and aligned with legislation, codes of practice and site procedures.
  • Provide practical and technical support to operations when required.
  • Assist with pre-starts, toolbox talks and training-related meetings as required.
  • Support continuous improvement of site training systems and processes.

You’ll succeed if you have

  • Demonstrated underground mining and training experience.
  • Relevant training and assessment qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining equipment, practices and competencies.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • A practical and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across different roles and departments; and a willingness to remain hands-on and assist operations when required.

  • Based at Ulan West, about a 45min drive from Mudgee, NSW.
  • Availability of Primary and High Schools in the area
