
Training and Development Specialist
Hybrid (2 days/week in-office, Markham, ON)
The Training and Development Specialist brings learning to life—helping employees build the skills and confidence to do great work. In this hands-on role, you design, develop, and deliver engaging instructor-led and online training, create clear and practical materials, and choose the best format for the audience (classroom, virtual, workshop, or blended). You bring the learning and development expertise, partnering with subject matter experts who bring the business knowledge—together, you shape the content, sharpen key messages, and keep training accurate and relevant. You’ll support employees across teams and locations, adapt delivery for different learners, and help keep training organized—from scheduling to learner communications—using feedback and simple metrics to continuously improve.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and delivertraining that helps employees succeed day one—and every day after.
Partner with managers and subject matter experts to understand what people need to learn and what “great” looks like on the job.
Turn processes, tools, and role expectations into simple, learner-friendly content people can use right away.
Create and refresh training materials, choosing the best format for the audience (in-person, virtual, demos, workshops, or blended).
Build clean, practical e-learning and job aids (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise) that reinforce on-the-job application.
Facilitate engaging sessions for individuals and groups, adjusting your approach to meet different learners where they are.
Coordinate updates with subject matter experts to keep content accurate, current, and aligned to how work is done.
Collect feedback and simple metrics to see what’s landing, then improve content and delivery over time.
Make training run smoothly by coordinating schedules, enrollment, communications, and basic session set-up.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Adult Education, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
2+ years of relevant experience in corporate training / learning & development, including delivering instructor-led and/or e-learning sessions.
Able to assess learning uptake and impact using simple, business-relevant measures.
Able to quickly learn business/operational concepts and explain them in clear, learner-friendly terms.
Familiarity with an LMS and common e-learning tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, or similar).
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfort learning new tools and systems.
Strong facilitation skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
Nice tohave:experience supporting training in a software/tech (SaaS) environment and/or change initiatives (e.g., new tools, process changes).
Nice tohave:comfort with basic business concepts (KPIs, budgets) and ability to translate them into clear learning.
Self-directed, adaptable, and effective in fast-changing environments.
Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):
The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$68,400.00 - CAD$83,600.00 per year.
