The Training & Development Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all employee training programs to ensure competency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization. This includes managing new-hire orientation, tracking certification requirements, ensuring completion of safety trainings, and maintaining training records in alignment with ISO 9001 competence requirements, safety standards, and applicable regulatory obligations
Scope
Covers organization-wide training, onboarding, competence management, certification tracking, safety training coordination, leadership development, documentation control of training records, and collaboration with HR, Safety, and departmental leadership.
Key Responsibilities
A. Training Program Development & Management
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive company-wide training strategy aligned with business needs and ISO requirements.
- Create, update, and standardize training materials, SOPs, and orientation content.
- Assess organizational skill gaps and design targeted development programs.
- Implement continuous improvement projects to enhance training effectiveness.
B. Employee Orientation
- Plan and deliver new-hire orientation to ensure consistent onboarding experiences.
- Coordinate involvement of Safety, IT, Payroll, and departmental leaders during orientation.
- Ensure that all new employees receive required safety, compliance, and job-specific training upon hire.
C. Certification & Compliance Management
- Maintain an accurate training matrix for all employees.
- Track and manage all employee certifications, including required renewals (e.g., forklift, safety, weld qualifications, environmental training).
- Ensure 100% compliance with mandatory training requirements (safety, HR compliance, quality).
- Coordinate specialized training with internal SMEs or external providers.
D. Safety & Regulatory Training
- Partner with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure employees meet all safety training requirements.
- Manage scheduling of annual, periodic, or job-specific safety training (LOTO, hazard communication, PPE, etc.).
- Ensure training materials reflect regulatory updates, customer standards, and company policies.
E. Training Records & Documentation (ISO-Aligned)
- Maintain training records, attendance logs, certifications, and qualification assessments per document control procedures.
- Support internal and external ISO audits by providing training records and evidence of competence.
- Ensure retention of training documents per the organization’s document retention policy.
F. Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on training requirements and development plans.
- Support leadership development, succession planning, and mentoring initiatives.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams focused on quality, safety, or workforce development.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards as they relate to competence and training.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
Experience
- Experience managing training or organizational development programs.
- Experience overseeing safety or compliance training in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering training to diverse audiences.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of training systems, LMS platforms, and document control processes.
- Ability to design training content using modern learning tools (presentations, e-learning, workshops).
- Familiarity with OSHA and other safety certification requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/LMS reporting tools.

- Training Effectiveness: Measured improvement in performance, safety, or quality metrics tied to training initiatives.
Authority & Decision Rights
- Approve design, delivery, and scheduling of company-wide training programs.
- Enforce compliance with training and certification requirements.
- Recommend corrective actions or retraining programs.
- Select external training vendors when needed.
Working Conditions
- Office-based role with regular interaction on the production floor.
- Occasional travel between company locations if applicable.
- May require leading safety walk-throughs.
