Summary: Teaching and enhancing job skills, attitudes, and behavior are critical to the success of people with disabilities in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform job analysis to understand the job's demands and required functions.
- This process should include analyzing the task, environment, physical and mental demands, tools, and equipment; sewing sample articles to determine assembly steps; human relations; and any other significant job demands, such as transportation and communication.
- Train the participant to perform job duties independently.  The training will include teaching the appropriate methods to operate; implementation of training based on participant’s learning style and individual needs; filling out the production record sheet; managing production obstacles (cutting errors, work aids, reporting to supervisor, etc.); understanding production goals and piece rate system for the operation; detect and correct defective work; care and manage the equipment; etc.
- Plan and monitor training schedules to encourage the achievement of production standards within a specified timeframe.
- Assess performance, record production, and timeframes, and report the participant’s progress according to the training schedule. If needed, recommend that the participant transfer from one operation to another.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the department's needs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is directly responsible for supervising employees assigned to them for coaching and development purposes.

QualificationsEducation and/or

Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; an AA degree is preferred.
- Must have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to deliver clear and precise instructions, maintain accurate record-keeping, and possess analytical skills.
Language Skills: The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively. Secondary languages in Spanish or Creole are a big plus.

Work Environment: Able to work in a noisy factory/manufacturing environment and withstand heavy traffic and floor vibrations.

How we do it: Goodwill engages in a unique social entrepreneurism model that funds services and employment for over 3,100 persons with disabilities in South Florida. Although most known for its Goodwill donation centers and retail stores, the organization’s other entrepreneurial businesses include Apparel Manufacturing, Custodial Services, Laundry Services and other Business Services, which directly train and employ a large number of people with disabilities while providing mission funding. South Florida’s Goodwill Industries is one of the most cost-effective non-profits in the U.S with 96% of its budget going directly to job training programs.
