Trainer – Delivery Operations / Site Trainer

(Logistics, FMCG, Manufacturing)

At Ocado Logistics, we’re looking for a Delivery Operations Trainer/Site Trainer to join our team and play a key role in developing our delivery colleagues.

This is a varied training role, covering customer service, manual handling, food safety, safe systems of work and upskilling our drivers with highwaycode and best practise on the road. You’ll work with both new and experienced colleagues, delivering engaging practical and classroom-based training that supports safety, compliance and an exceptional customer experience.

This role combines traditional site training such as manual handling and food safety, as well as driver coaching. You don't need to be a qualified driving instructor to succeed in this role. Experience of driver coaching or instruction is beneficial, but we're equally interested in experienced trainers and coaches who have the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to develop others.

What you’ll be doing

As a key part of the Delivery Operations team, you’ll help shape the colleague and customer experience through impactful training, coaching and development.

You will:

• Deliver engaging training to new and existing colleagues across customer service, food safety, manual handling and safe systems of work
• Deliver practical and theory-based driver coaching, supporting colleagues to develop their risk awareness, driving skills and positive driving mindset
• Deliver site-specific training, including Site Marshal training, and support the delivery of compliance-based courses such as Food Safety and Health & Safety
• Adapt your training style to suit different learners, helping colleagues build confidence, knowledge and capability
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and coach colleagues to improve their performance
• Monitor and track trainee progress, identifying where additional support or development may be required
• Maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready training records
• Support training across multiple locations as required, working closely with operational teams and other trainers
• Continuously look for ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of our training and learning experience

What you’ll bring

Must-have:

• Experience of delivering training, coaching or learning and development in a workplace or operational environment
• Confidence presenting to and engaging groups of people, as well as providing effective one-to-one coaching
• The ability to adapt your approach to different learning styles, experience levels and individual needs
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to provide clear, honest and constructive feedback
• A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a specialist team
• Good working knowledge of Google Workspace and PowerPoint
• A strong commitment to safety, compliance and delivering a positive colleague experience
• Willingness to travel between sites where required

Desirable:

• DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) status – Fleet registered is a bonus
• Previous experience of driver training, driver coaching or fleet training
• Experience delivering compliance-based training such as Food Safety, Health & Safety or Manual Handling
• Experience working within a logistics, transport, retail, customer service or other operational environment
• Knowledge of UK traffic regulations

Driving requirements

• As driver coaching forms part of the role, you’ll need to meet our driving and insurance requirements which are:
• No MVIR in the last 12 months
• No more than 3 points on your driving licence
• However, formal driver instruction qualifications are not essential. We’re particularly interested in candidates with strong site based operational training and driver coaching capability who are keen to develop their skills across the full range of Delivery Operations training.
