Job Description

Deadline for application: 7 September 2026. We are looking for a procurement trainee for our Commercial Legal and Procurement (CLP) team, which is part of the Legal and Procurement division to support the preparation and management of procurement procedures. The selected person will report to the CLP team lead.

The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) procures supplies and services in support of its operational objectives. As an international organisation that carries out procurement on its own behalf and for its own account, the ESM conducts procurement in accordance with the ESM Procurement Policy and is committed to respecting the general principles of transparency, proportionality, equal treatment, and non-discrimination.

Through this traineeship, you will be enabled to acquire practical experience and knowledge of the day-to-day work of the different business areas and to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment, and you will be introduced to the professional world and the constraints, duties and opportunities therein. In this context, you will interact with internal and external stakeholders.

PURPOSE OF THE TRAINEESHIP

  • Support the preparation and management of procurement procedures for the acquisition of goods and services in accordance with the ESM Procurement Policy, in particular mini competitions under the ESM’s consultancy panel (including the establishment and extension of implementing contracts).

  • Support colleagues throughout the procurement and contracting cycle.

KEY BACKGROUND

  • Hold or be in the process of obtaining a relevant university degree

  • Successful completion of all relevant courses according to the university curriculum and entitlement for a traineeship according to this curriculum

  • Fluency in English, both oral and written

  • A previous traineeship experience in the field of procurement would be an asset

APPLICATION PROCESS AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Expected start date: 1 November 2026

  • Duration: six months, with possibility of extension up to twelve months in total

  • Competitive allowance granted

  • Place of the traineeship: Luxembourg

  • Current working arrangements: possibility to work remotely, normally up to two days a week, from Luxembourg and the border region (or from further away under certain conditions)
