Kickstart Your Career as a Trainee Process Operator

Gold Fields is a globally diversified gold producer with nine operating mines across Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Peru, Canada and Chile.

We’re looking for motivated people who are ready to learn, develop and build a career in the mining industry to join our team as a Trainee Process Operator.

This is a 12 month traineeship designed to provide you with hands-on experience, quality training and real-world exposure to mining processing operations. You’ll work alongside experienced Process Operators, developing the skills and knowledge required to operate a processing plant safely and effectively. On successful completion of the traineeship, you’ll have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role with Gold Fields.

This position is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract, working an 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Trainee Process Operator, you’ll work alongside experienced operators to learn how to safely operate and monitor different areas of the processing plant.

Throughout your traineeship, you’ll gain exposure to:

• Crushers, mills, leach tanks and elution circuits
• Control room operations and monitoring plant performance
• Operating mobile equipment including IT loaders, Bobcats and forklifts
• Taking slurry samples and completing basic process checks
• Safely handling hazardous reagents and chemicals
• Assisting with maintenance activities during planned shutdowns
• Plant cleaning and general housekeeping
• Computer-based data entry and operational reporting, with training provided
• Participating in toolbox talks, safety discussions and initiatives that support our strong safety culture

This is a hands-on role that involves working outdoors and in all weather conditions, manual tasks and lifting, as well as working at heights. A good level of physical fitness and a commitment to working safely are essential.

• A current C Class Driver’s Licence — manual licence preferred
