Are you ready to start a hands-on career in the electricity distribution industry?

We’re looking for a motivated Trainee Line Mechanic to join our team based in Hāwera. This is your opportunity to gain practical, on-the-job experience while working towards industry-recognised qualifications.

You’ll work alongside experienced crews to learn how to safely build, maintain and repair electricity networks across the Taranaki region.

Over time, you’ll develop skills in:

  • Overhead and underground line construction and maintenance
  • Network inspections, repairs and upgrades
  • Fault response and restoration work
  • Safe use of tools, plant and equipment in a live network environment


This role is ideal for someone practical, reliable and keen to work outdoors in a team environment.

We welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Have a strong interest in the energy, construction or utilities sector
  • Enjoy hands-on, physical outdoor work
  • Have a great attitude, reliability and willingness to learn
  • Are committed to working safely and looking out for others
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Hold a full Class 1 driver licence (or are working towards it)

Pre-trade or electrical experience is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided.
