Trainee Forensic Psychologist

Location Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, Graveley Rd, Stevenage, SG1 4YS

Salary Up to £37,831 (FTE, Depending On Experience)

Hours Full Time, 37.5 hours (P/T Hours can be considered)

Details of Post We are looking to employ an experienced Trainee Forensic Psychologist to join our Psychology Department at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. The successful candidate will join a team comprised of qualified, trainee, assistant and honorary psychologists.

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 82 bedded hospital with six wards consisting of a medium secure male ward, two low secure (male and female) wards, two PICU male wards and one acute female ward.

The applicant will be already/due-to-be enrolled on a Forensic Training course that will lead to professional registration as a Forensic Psychologist (e.g. BPS Stage 2, Post Graduate Diploma or Doctorate course) and has experience in forensic settings such as hospitals/ prisons/probation.

The post holder will be working towards becoming a Practitioner Psychologist under the supervision of the Co-ordinating Supervisor, who will be HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist. The type of practice experience and the core competencies to be developed (placement goals) will be determined jointly by the trainee and the Placement Supervisor. They will devise and regularly update a supervision plan for ongoing approval by the Co-ordinating Supervisor and the HCPC and the DFP.

The successful candidate will work across the hospital but will also be attached to a secure ward working alongside a multi-disciplinary team. As a Trainee Forensic Psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans, deliver group and individual psychological interventions. You will also offer consultation, supervision and training across the service.
