Trainee European Planner

Location: Wakefield or Corby based

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (Monday- Friday 08:00-16:30)

Salary: £24,000.000 - £30,000.00 per annum

This role offers hands‑on experience in European road freight, short sea shipping, and customs documentation. You will have the opportunity to develop into a skilled planner with broad logistics expertise, supported by comprehensive on‑the‑job training.

Key Responsibilities

Support the planning and coordination of European road freight and short sea import/export shipments

Assist with the preparation and management of customs and shipping documentation

Monitor shipments, track progress, and provide updates to stakeholders

Liaise with carriers, customers, and internal teams under supervision

Gain exposure to deep sea, air freight, and multi-modal logistics operations

Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Participate in training to develop knowledge of customs compliance and international trade

Requirements

Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel within the UK

Occasional overseas travel may be required as part of this role (to be discussed further at interview)

GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above), or equivalent

Motivated and ambitious, with a strong interest in logistics and freight forwarding

Well organised, with good attention to detail

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Willing to learn and take on responsibility

Interest in international trade, transport, or logistics.

Proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
