We are excited to be recruiting a part-time Trainee Dental Nurse to join our team at Portobello Dental Clinic, Edinburgh. This position has opened due to growth within the practice, and will include supporting the Reception desk where required.

We welcome part-time applications from candidates able to work Mondays and Fridays, plus one extra day in the week, (8:45am–5:30pm), with the flexibility to discuss additional working days. Monday and Friday availability is essential.

Portobello Dental Clinic is a long established practice, located conveniently on Portobello's High Street with Portobello beach just a stone's throw away. There is ample on-street parking within walking distance of the practice and a bus stop just across the road.

You will be responsible for providing chair side support in all day-to-day activities within the practice and surgeries, and supporting Reception where required. You will play an important role in a ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care while complying with all clinical and health & safety guidance.

Other duties include –

• Creating a welcoming environment for patients that sets them at ease from the outset
• Maximising the use of the internal system (Software of Excellence) to ensure accurate patient records are maintained
• Ensuring the surgery is set up appropriately for each session throughout the day to maximise the efficiency of the practice and surgery utilisation.
• Coordinating and managing clinician appointment schedules to make effective use of surgery time while accommodating patients’ needs
• Handling incoming calls, arranging and confirming appointments, and processing patient payments
• Anticipating the requirements of the clinician and patient in advance of their session and ensure necessary lab work and equipment is in place
• Monitoring surgery stocks to ensure that appropriate stock levels are maintained

About You

• Experience in a reception or customer-facing position where delivering a positive patient/customer experience was a key priority is preferred
• A genuine commitment to providing consistently high standards of patient care
• The confidence to work independently, use your own initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a willingness to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities
