Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the Group Transformation & Operations - Finance Global Services​ (GTO-FGS) team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, join us on a permanent basis, commencing 01.10.2026 as a Trainee Business Mathematics Finance Global Services

Our division brings together core finance, process and technology topics – from actuarial models and database solutions to modern accounting systems, quarterly closings and financial reporting.
We continuously develop our finance systems in an efficient, international environment, actively driving Hannover Re’s transformation.

In our 18‑month trainee programme, you will build a holistic understanding of our complex system and process landscape. During several placements – including one at one of our international offices – you will gain different perspectives, contribute to day‑to‑day operations and projects and develop step by step with the support of experienced mentors. You can look forward to


  • Developing a deep understanding of our actuarial models, accounting processes and system landscape

  • Supporting the further development of finance and accounting systems as well as data‑driven solutions

  • Contributing to key processes such as quarterly closings or system migrations, providing direct business support

  • Gaining international experience through a multi‑month placement at one of our global locations

  • Working closely with experts from Finance, IT and Actuarial in an international environment

  • Participating in dedicated trainee events and building a strong group‑wide network

You come equipped with


  • A very good Master’s degree in business mathematics, mathematics, economics or a comparable programme with a quantitative focus

  • Initial practical experience in the financial services or insurance industry during your studies is an advantage

  • International experience, e.g. through a semester abroad or work & travel programmes

  • Ideally, first programming skills and a strong affinity for IT

  • Proficient user skills in English - German and additional languages are a plus

  • Curiosity, openness and motivation to continuously develop and grow with new challenges
