Job Description

The role of the Trainee Broker encompasses support for the broker desk during the daily trading cycle, back-up for broker confirmations, and assisting the office manager as needed in daily tasks. Training will be provided.


LINK CRUDE/LINK FUTURES
• Compile analysis of prior day’s trading volumes and enter data into corresponding spreadsheets
o Domestic Canadian and Rockies internal market recaps
• Update and maintain Wallboard market information
o Marketview, Posting Plus
• Learn and utilize the Bloomberg terminal and Link page
• Keep public folder Contacts up to date
• Generate ranking reports and revenue reports weekly
• Execute relevant reports for both internal use and client submission
o Link Daily Report- enter trades and generate report
o Forward Curve-enter values and generate each report daily
o Canadian Report- enter values and generate report
• Assist brokers in writing up daily transactions as they occur in real time
o Pointer
▪ Drafting deal sheet
▪ Distribute completed deals sheets to brokers.
▪ Distribute broker approved deal sheets to Access Confirmer
▪ Deal Sheet Revisions
▪ Redistribution of recaps between brokers
o Inputting deals in E-Confirm Compare entries with Access, recaps and deal sheets
▪ Respond to client inquires
▪ Investigate and correct unmatched trades
▪ Create E-Confirm Transaction approval report.
o Recorder
▪ Log all deals in deal book.
▪ Deal book revisions.
▪ Send reportable trades to teams for broker approval
▪ Report trades to Argus
• Check Daily transaction reports for accuracy
o Highlight anomalies and bring to broker desk attention
• Update daily volumes and Link percentage of physical and financial market
o Develop monthly and annual comparison tables for reference
• Input and save all Argus data for relevant analyses
o Develop relevant market analyses as needed
o Have a working knowledge of Excel for charting/data presentation
• Clear trades as needed through relevant exchange portals
• Enter customer transactions into E-Confirm platforms as needed
• Answer phones throughout the day as needed.
• Maintain up to date market information throughout the day
o Understand parties and current markets
• Understand and assist the Confirmations position as needed
o E-Confirm, Trade Recaps, Broker Web
o Backup for this position in the event of emergency
• Develop understanding of the role of a Broker in the domestic crude market
o Crude Oil pricing and Infrastructure
o Market movement and trends
o Clients and company relationships
• Earn Series 3 License
• Earn Series 30 License
o Ensure Brokers timely administration and completion of broker compliance testing.
o Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation for all Exchange traded products

Link Data Services
• Generate, assist with and send out Link Crude Daily Report, End of Day and Canadian Report.
• Updating settlement prices for Forward curve

• Manage distribution lists for all LDS reports.
