Could you be the full-time Train Test Engineer in Mannheim we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your software testing expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and detail-oriented teammates.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software and systems, directly contributing to the performance and safety of our products. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (software engineers, system engineers, and testing teams), plan and execute tests, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of planning, developing, and automating tests for software and systems, but also analyzing test results and improving product quality in collaboration with engineering teams.

We’ll look to you for:

• Planning and designing software tests based on requirements and system behavior
• Implementing and maintaining automated tests, including integration into GitLab CI/CD workflows
• Executing tests in laboratory and vehicle environments, analyzing results, and documenting defects
• Configuring and maintaining test environments, including Linux-based and networked systems
• Coordinating testing activities within the TDF domain
• Collaborating with software and system engineers to improve product quality

• Degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Good understanding of software engineering principles and practices
• Good understanding of at least one high-level programming language
• Practical experience with Python and GitLab
• Knowledge of CI/CD and Linux
• Experience with test automation and strong networking skills
• German language skills at C1 level or higher
• Effective use of AI tools in engineering work
• Proxmox knowledge is an advantage
• Curious, collaborative, and analytical approach
• Willingness to travel to compare laboratory test results with vehicle tests at different locations
• Ability to read and understand wiring schematics
• Ability to read and understand IEC 61131-3
• Programming skills in C/C++/C#
• Fluent English language skills
• Experience with trains/trams and their subsystems
