Job Description

Job Title: COG Train Conductor
Job Pay Rate: $18.00/Hour (seasonal)

As a member of the COG team, the Conductor will be responsible for safety and comfort of passengers on trains. Gives speech describing the history, geology and fun facts about Pikes Peak and the Cog Railway. Make required reports to train dispatcher about passenger counts, weather conditions and other information as requested. This position will report to the Shop Foreman and Assistant Shop Foreman, Traffic Manager or Assistant Traffic Manager in Depot Area, Dispatcher when on trains, Engineer during emergency situations.

What you will be doing:
• Operate trains and look after the safety and comfort of passengers.
• Scan tickets, make required counts and reports.
• Give assigned lecture over P.A. system on train while in transit.
• When not on trains, report to Shop Foreman or Assistant Shop Foreman for additional instructions.
• Clean interior and exterior of trains.
• Clean shop or restrooms or depot platform.
• Assist in Cog parking lot.
• Assist with minor maintenance of trains under supervision of shop personnel.
• Use railroad radio for required company business only.
• Wear uniform in prescribed manner
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, snow and ice conditions. The employee will regularly be at altitudes between 6,500 feet and 14,115 feet above sea level. At these altitudes the employee may experience decreased oxygen levels, extreme cold, extreme heat and rapid changes in weather conditions without warning. The employee may work around electricity with risk of electrical shock.
• The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Work schedule is non-standard. Weekends and holidays required, some night and early morning work may be required. Work load is seasonable with peak work coming in the summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

What we are looking for:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• This is a safety sensitive position. Applicant must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screening and will be subject to random drug testing. The employee must possess the ability to work safely and efficiently to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to assist with driving shuttles or transporting guests as needed.

• Ability to report to work with clean, neat appearance and comply with all required grooming standards
