Essential Functions and Purpose
Fleet / TrailerTechnician-Intermediate Level; Works under general supervision of the Service Manager, Service Supervisor, or designated Lead Technician. This employee with proper training and experience will diagnose minor mechanical and electrical problems working in accordance with all standard repair practices along with Federal and State compliance guidelines. This position will road test vehicles to ensure the quality and effectiveness of repairs performed along with identifying potential concerns and will exercise judgement and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

Training / Skills Required
• 4 plus years’ experience in a related field of automotive/Heavy Truck
• Class B Commercial Driver’s License
• Trailer maintenance experience is a must.
• Advanced knowledge and full understanding of Heavy-Duty trucks and trailers
• Able to identify the root cause of failures / conditions on all systems and components along with performing the repairs as required.
• Must be CFC 609 Certified
• Basic welding skills
• Acts as a mentor to lesser qualified Technicians.
• Actively seek and participate in available training to enhance personal development.
• Determines vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections; oil changes; chassis lubrication and identifying worn and damaged parts. Inspections to be performed both in the shop and remotely to customer needs.
• Performs campaigns, install components, and part upgrades as directed.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Performs tire repairs, replacements, rotations of vehicles as needed.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and emission control standards.
• Controls costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
• Participates in specific training programs as prescribed by VTRL.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• 4 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field
• Must have valid Class B Driver’s License
• Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas.

Basic Technical Understanding
• Ability to follow all written and oral instructions, Attention to Detail, Dependability, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Job Knowledge
• Ability to always implement and work in a strong safety environment.
• Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.
• Ability to lift a Maximum of 75lbs.

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Must be able to pass post-offer drug screening, physical examination (including lift test) and background check.
Compensation:
• $30.00 hourly depending on experience and qualifications
• Full-time position
