The City of Waco Seeks:

The City of Waco is seeking a skilled and motived Traffic Signal Technician - CDL to join our team and contribute to the maintenance, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems.

Minimum Qualifications;

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience in construction, traffic signal-related work, or the installation, testing, maintenance, or repair of electrical, electronic, or communications equipment; or equivalent qualifying training, including military electrical/electronic training, an electrical apprenticeship, or one year of college coursework or credits related to the position.
  • Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License within 180 days.
  • Traffic Signal Technician certification from a nationally recognized and accredited agency or association within 2 years.
  • According to the needs of the City, specific traning and/or certifications may be required.

Position Description:

Under basic supervision, installs and maintains traffic control signals on City streets.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, repairs, and replaces traffic signals according to assigned work orders; tests and cleans systems and components; and replaces wiring, fuses, bulbs, and other parts.
  • Operates a commercial vehicle to inspect and maintain traffic signal hardware and electric and electronic controllers; checks schematics and diagrams and performs preventive maintenance.
  • May be required to be on-call, respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.

  • Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
