About this role:


Entering Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division, you will be working on The ETCS Alliance as the Traffic Management Systems Engineer CRR ETCS You will provide technical leadership within a multi-disciplinary environment, ensuring the delivery of the ETCS integration with additional integration testing with internal and external parties. This role requires managing multiple stakeholders at any one time.

This role is a fixed-term role with an end date of 31 July, 2028. This role will be based in Brisbane CBD.

You can expect some of your responsibilities to include:

  • Lead the provision of expert Operational Systems engineering services, advice, and recommendations to complete projects against specified KRAs, taking into account scope, quality, safety considerations and allocated budgets.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within the CRR/European Train Control System (ETCS) Operational Readiness group in order to obtain advice and guidance relating to Operational Systems initiatives and activities to provide the best possible advice and support to the ETCS Program.
  • Lead and coach individuals and teams in delivering commercial advantage and outcomes through business improvements, technology development and innovation.
  • Provide guidance, as a professional engineer, for Operational Systems engineering works and monitor and manage compliance of the team with the requirements of professional practice and the Quality Management System to provide consistent output of Operational Systems engineering services, ensure compliance with safety, operational and environmental legislation, regulations and practices.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective Operational Systems strategies and governance procedures and where applicable, build capability.
  • Actively promote and contribute to the achievement of project objectives and targets including providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers; and work as the Unity Alliance through cooperation and teamwork.

What you can bring to the role:

  • High level of skill in Design, Renewals, Implementation, Testing and Commissioning of Operational Systems infrastructure.
  • The preferred candidate should be knowledgeable about railways software standards EN 50126, 50128
  • High level of skill in leading and developing a team of professional engineers and technical officers.
  • Experience with control systems and rail systems engineering expertise would be ideal. Additional signalling experience would be a plus.
  • High level of skill in the delivery of business focused technical signalling engineering solutions that deliver commercial value in at least one area of Operational Systems discipline.
  • High level of skill in coaching and leading multi disciplinary project teams to deliver sustainable commercial outcomes within a complex regulatory environment.
  • High level of skill in meeting statutory, regulatory and policy obligations, particularly in relation to satisfy the safety, environment, contract processes
