
TxDOT's Houston District is seeking a detail-oriented person interested in traffic and incident management. This role is critical to ensure the safety of citizens traveling through the greater Houston area. The ideal candidate will have a background in data entry, dispatch and/or traffic management. This position requires some flexibility in desired work schedule. Customer service experience is an asset in this customer facing role. Communicating with multiple entities and keeping the Traffic Management Center following TxDOT's mission is key.

Monitors traffic via computerized surveillance and control equipment located within an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) managed area. Disseminates information to the public through various forms of communication. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
2 years of experience in Traffic studies, analysis, computer ops, electronics, traffic management, telecommunication ops. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

To be selected for and continue employment in this position, the selected incumbent must maintain the security or integrity of the agency’s critical infrastructure and will be subject to regular assessments of criminal history and/or reviewed for connections to foreign adversaries.
Employees must be able to report for duty at Houston TranStar during inclement weather or other emergency activations.
This role is essential to operations and may operate in non-typical hours.
