
The Texas Department of Transportation Houston District is seeking a highly qualified Professional Engineer to serve as the Traffic Maintenance Programs Manager within the Transportation Operations Section. Reporting directly to the Director of Transportation Operations, this leadership position plays a key role in supporting the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across one of the nation's most dynamic transportation networks. The Traffic Maintenance Programs Manager provides leadership and oversight for a variety of transportation operations and right of way programs that support the Houston District's six county region. The position works closely with local governments, railroads, utility companies, developers, and internal stakeholders to solve problems, build partnerships, and support the district's transportation mission. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound engineering judgment, and a commitment to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.

Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and/or contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
Advises staff engineers.
Assists in the development, preparation and letting of maintenance contracts for the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.

Licensed Prof Engineer*
*Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.

Planning, assigning, directing, coordinating and reviewing the work of professional, administrative and technical employees
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
