Traffic Engineer

Qatar

Parsons is looking for a highly skilled Traffic Engineer to join our project site team! In this role, you will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of traffic control and traffic management systems to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow on and around the project site, collaborate with contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to optimize traffic operations, ensuring minimal disruption to the public and construction progress.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Managing traffic operations on-site to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and construction equipment.
  • Developing and implementing traffic management plans for construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Designing, coordinating, and overseeing the installation of temporary traffic control devices (such as signs, barriers, and traffic signals) to safely guide traffic around the project site.
  • Coordinating with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure necessary traffic permits and approvals are obtained for construction-related activities.
  • Monitoring traffic flow and responding to incidents, accidents, or disruptions to ensure quick resolution and minimal impact on construction schedules.
  • Conducting site inspections to ensure that traffic management measures are properly implemented and maintained throughout the duration of the project.
  • Preparing and reviewing traffic control layouts, ensuring alignment with the overall project design and safety standards.
  • Assessing and analyzing traffic patterns and recommending adjustments to improve safety and minimize disruptions during construction.
  • Collaborating with the construction team to schedule traffic disruptions, lane closures, and detours, ensuring minimal interference with construction timelines and public convenience.
  • Maintaining communication with project stakeholders, including contractors and local authorities, to provide updates and address concerns regarding traffic management.
  • Ensuring all traffic management practices are compliant with local, state, and national traffic regulations and standards.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • 10 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, focused on site-specific traffic management for construction projects.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing traffic management plans for construction sites, including designing traffic control layouts and ensuring safety compliance.
  • Experience with temporary traffic control measures, such as barricades, lane closures, signage, and traffic diversions.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and national traffic regulations, including work zone safety and environmental protection standards.
  • Experience in coordinating with local authorities, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary traffic permits and approvals.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address on-site traffic disruptions and adjust traffic management plans accordingly.
  • Proven track record of leading traffic management efforts on large-scale construction projects and ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding community.
  • Computer skills are mandatory, with proficiency in relevant software tools for site management and reporting.
  • MME certified.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software (such as SYNCHRO, VISSIM, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in managing traffic operations in urban or high-traffic areas, ensuring safety and smooth flow during construction.
  • Knowledge of smart city and sustainable transportation solutions and their application in construction projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple site traffic concerns simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide a team of traffic officers and inspectors and ensure adherence to safety protocols and construction timelines.
  • Familiarity with the logistics of managing large construction equipment in high-traffic areas and ensuring proper traffic routing and management.
