Salary Range: $22.00 - $28.00 Hourly
Job Shift: 1stSUMMARY: The Traffic Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the traffic function. They will be responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and the tracking of outbound orders. Must be the site leader in living and driving the Company Core Values and High-Performance Work Culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determine and advise customers as to the best carrier to use for best service, rate, and delivery time. This is based on experience with the carriers and their performance
- Investigate customer discrepancies with the order they received. EX: difference in quantity shipped and quantity received
- Inform transporters for freight pick-ups and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately
- Work with Operations Manager and Scheduling Manager to guarantee the customer’s order is packaged, labeled, and ready for shipping by earliest acceptable date
- Interface with Accounting Department to assure billing, freight charges, and memo log are correctly processed and maintained
- Schedule shipment (less than truckload and truckloads) for dispatch or pick-up
- Investigate and correct any issues with freight billing between carrier and Company
- Field phone calls from customers to provide them with shipment information when needed
- Work with forklift operators to correctly fill customer orders
- Routinely verify warehouse inventory and communicate discrepancies with Inventory control
- Verify product availability, prepare orders for pulling, calculate weight, and complete bill of lading for shipping
- Prepare freight rates for sales and customers as requested
- Prepares and verifies bills of ladings
- Audit orders, produce picklist reports, and verify accuracy
- Provide export documentation for international shipments
- Complete damage claims to carriers for customers’ shipments
- Operate computer, calculator, copier, label printer, and other office machines as required
- Ship, receive, and document UPS & FEDEX shipments
- Receive, classify, and direct routine mail and messages, and answer phones
- Provide clerical and administrative support as required within Shipping Department
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Use of standard business equipment, computer systems and programs is required. Certifications will be evaluated as needed. Successful accomplishment of duties and responsibilities require the following:
- Working knowledge of business English, spelling, shipping terminology, basic math, office practices and procedures
- Ability to use computer system including order processing, bill of lading, pick ticket, and label printing applications
- Ability to establish and maintain computer and hard copy records and files
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, and officials in other departments
- Must have above average organizational skills
- Must score at least 65% on Math and Reading assessment
- Must possess a full working knowledge of Windows based computer systems and Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and have two to four years of active experience in the Shipping and Receiving field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have excellent communication, follow-up and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, rate and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information and to effectively manage plant-wide production needs. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and to request clarification when needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, to handle and/or feel, and talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is sometimes required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and smell. The employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
