Veolia is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Maintenance Mechanic to join our maintenance team at Port Kembla, NSW. This critical role involves ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of our diverse fleet of plant and equipment, including light vehicles, heavy vehicles, and mobile and fixed plant machinery. As a valued member of our team, you will contribute significantly to the efficiency and longevity of our operations.

Conducting repairs and maintenance tasks on heavy vehicles, including inspections, component replacements, and air and auto electrical system repairs
Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
Applying mechanical skills to conduct repairs and maintenance on mobile and fixed plant and equipment
Performing inspections, repairs, and adjustments to hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
Carrying out rebuilds, repairs and maintenance to various types of pumps and equipment
Adhering to scheduled maintenance plans and ensuring proper functionality and safety of all systems
Prioritising safety in all maintenance activities and following established safety procedures
Reporting safety concerns or potential hazards/near misses to the maintenance supervisor promptly
Assisting in the development of maintenance-related work instructions and JSEA's
Maintaining all tools and equipment in good working order
Communicating clearly and professionally with the maintenance supervisor and teammates
Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Hold a trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel / Plant Mechanic or equivalent
Demonstrate a track record of successfully repairing and maintaining light vehicles, heavy vehicles, and mobile and fixed plant machinery
Possess strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, utilising diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
Familiarity with electrical systems and the ability to conduct repairs and diagnostics
In-depth knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications accurately
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team
Physical stamina to perform manual labour and work in various weather conditions
Dedication to maintaining high standards and ability to work efficiently and safely
