This class is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties. The position will be required to perform work on highly specialized equipment associated with wastewater pump stations. Depending on the position level, the incumbent may serve as a lead worker, directing employees in the proper maintenance, repair or replacement of equipment. This employee must be able to troubleshoot equipment to determine the cause of the problem and make accurate and timely decisions with respect to repairs and/or replacements.

Essential Duties

  • Perform installations, repairs, and general maintenance in functional area.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in functional area.
  • Prepare materials and cost estimates for various projects within functional area.
  • Maintain adequate level of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with establishing safe construction sites to include directing traffic.
  • May serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Trades Technician I
Grade A12(3) Salary: $40,000 - $43,337

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Trades Technician II
Grade B21(3) Salary: $44,968 - $51,713

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
  • Two years of trades experience: OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.


Trades Technician III
Grade B23(3) Salary: $53,268 - $61,280

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
  • Four years of trades experience: OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.


Trades Technician IV
Grade B31(3) Salary: $57,950 - $66,642

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity: OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

The County Administrator and County Attorney are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve at its pleasure.
