Job Description

We’re partnering with a leading global hedge fund to enhance and optimise its European trade and transaction reporting framework.

The firm has mature regulatory reporting processes and infrastructure in place and is seeking an experienced specialist to take ownership of a key reporting obligation while managing the associated change portfolio. The successful candidate will bring deep subject-matter expertise in at least one major European reporting regime - SFTR, EMIR or MiFID II/MiFIR transaction reporting - with the precise scope of responsibility aligned to their experience.

This is a hands-on role combining regulatory interpretation and BAU oversight with business analysis, data investigation, testing and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will act as a principal point of expertise for their assigned obligation, ensuring the continued accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reporting and maintaining clear traceability from the regulation through to operational and technical implementation.

The role is based full-time in the firm’s London office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of an assigned European trade or transaction reporting obligation, with potential coverage across SFTR, EMIR or MiFID II/MiFIR
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the relevant regulation and its implementation, including reportability and eligibility logic, field-level requirements, data sourcing, enrichment rules and vendor mappings
  • Act as the primary point of contact for questions relating to the current implementation, BAU reporting and future regulatory changes
  • Conduct horizon scanning and assess the impact of regulatory and industry developments on the firm’s reporting framework, processes and controls
  • Maintain clear, auditable traceability from the underlying regulation through to business requirements, data mappings, controls and technical implementation
  • Oversee daily BAU reporting metrics, proactively identifying exceptions, breaks, control weaknesses and emerging risks
  • Ensure aged exceptions remain within the firm’s risk appetite, escalating promptly where exposures or control failures fall outside agreed tolerances
  • Advise Regulatory Operations on complex questions and issues arising through BAU reporting
  • Coordinate complete, accurate and timely responses to enquiries from regulators and other external parties, working in partnership with Compliance
  • Respond to reporting-related questions from counterparties and relevant reporting venues, repositories, service providers and other stakeholders
  • Assess new products, instruments and business activities to determine their regulatory reporting impact, coordinating any required analysis, implementation and testing
  • Lead regulatory reporting change from initial impact assessment through to implementation, including requirements gathering, Jira documentation, test-case creation, testing, UAT and post-production validation
  • Analyse front-to-back data flows, field mappings and enrichment processes to identify data-quality issues, reporting gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform hands-on data investigation and root-cause analysis, partnering with Technology and Operations to define and implement sustainable resolutions
  • Validate data sourcing, transformation and lifecycle-event logic against the applicable regulatory and technical requirements
  • Identify and deliver improvements based on BAU metrics, Compliance input, assurance findings and regulatory feedback
  • Engage with relevant trade repositories, Approved Reporting Mechanisms, vendors and regulators where required
  • Contribute to the firm’s target-state regulatory reporting roadmap, with a focus on control maturity, automation and exception reduction

Requirements

  • Deep practical expertise in at least one of the following European regulatory reporting regimes:
  • Previous experience acting as an obligation owner, regulatory reporting subject-matter expert, Lead Business Analyst or Change Manager within a hedge fund, investment bank, trading firm or comparable capital-markets environment
  • Detailed understanding of the relevant regime’s reportability rules, field-level requirements, data mappings, lifecycle events, reconciliations and exception-management processes
  • Strong understanding of the associated financial products, transaction lifecycles and front-to-back data flows
  • Proven experience overseeing BAU regulatory reporting metrics, exceptions and risks within defined operational and regulatory tolerances
  • Experience responding to regulatory, Compliance, assurance, counterparty or reporting-provider enquiries
  • Strong business-analysis and change-delivery capabilities, including impact assessments, requirements documentation, Jira management, test-case creation, UAT and post-production validation
  • Hands-on data-analysis experience, including SQL querying, exception investigation, root-cause analysis and control testing
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory reporting standards, identifiers and formats, potentially including ISO 20022 XML, UTI, UPI, LEI and ISIN
  • Experience assessing the regulatory reporting impact of new products, instruments or business activities
  • Demonstrable experience delivering sustainable process, data and control improvements within a regulatory reporting environment
  • Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders, counterparties, reporting providers and regulators
  • A strong sense of ownership, accountability and attention to detail, with the ability to act as the firm’s principal specialist for an assigned reporting obligation
  • London-based and prepared to work five days per week in the office

Benefits

Length: initial 12-month contract
