Under general supervision, performs skilled work of moderate difficulty in electronic/electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC operation and system controls, general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

Examples of duties

  • Performs skilled work specific to assigned trade, which may include plumbing, HVAC, Jail Detention Systems, Electronic/System Control and/or painting.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, specifications, and drawings and remains current in code compliance, standards, and regulations of related trades.
  • Participates in training and research for new methods and procedures for their trade.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or related field.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

  • Methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials of the assigned trade.

  • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with various indoor and outdoor locations, in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, blood borne pathogens, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time; move, lift, push, pull a variety of heavy objects; mix and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, or similar solutions using normal protective equipment; remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
