The Bridge Project aims to positively engage the prisoner population at Ravenhall Correctional Centre through a variety of sport and recreation, education, and trade related programs. The Bridge Project also provides case management support pre and post release, transitioning individuals into post-release employment through our network of employers in the community.

Ravenhall Correctional Centre is located in Ravenhall, Victoria, 25 kilometres from Melbourne. Ravenhall is a 1000 (built for 1300) bed medium security prison for adult sentenced males. Through investment in opportunities for prisoners to engage in work, education and programs, prisoners are not only held safely and securely but given every chance to turn their lives around.

About the Opportunity

The YMCA Trade (Program) Facilitator (Ravenhall) will upskill and support clients at Ravenhall Prison in a wide range of employable skills directly related to participation within this trade skills program.. Program Facilitators are also responsible for; building and maintaining relationships with Ravenhall Prison stakeholders, contract partners (Offender Services) and Bridge Project staff. The Ravenhall program is aimed to improve upon the personal and professional development of each participant that engages in the program. Responsibilities include.

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate that starts from $38 per hour plus super.

  • Facilitate meaningful and purpose-driven trade related training and activities
  • Maintain a strong focus on the delivery of a quality service by seeking stakeholder and Bridge Project management feedback
  • Accurate statistical data collection, including daily statistical data, participant feedback, module/activity completion
  • Develop and manage appropriate communication strategies with all participants, staff, stakeholders and the Bridge team

About You

You will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a capacity to relate well and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Other requirements include:

  • Basic computer literacy and written skills
  • Exemplary levels of professionalism and integrity
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision

Qualifications

  • Forklift Licence
  • Drivers License
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE 30110) and Furniture Making Qualification are desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in trade related skills
