Job Description

As our next Trade Growth Lead (Maternity Cover), you’ll own the growth journey from first touch through to first monetisation. Sitting within our Trade Experience product team, you’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Performance Marketing, CRM, and Commercial teams to help shape the future of how trades join and grow with Checkatrade.

This is a high-impact role at the centre of one of the company’s most important strategic growth bets.

Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Own the Trade Growth Funnel: meaning you’ll drive the full journey from sign-up to monetisation, which will increase both volume and quality of self-serve trade sign-ups.

  • Lead Continuous Experimentation: meaning you’ll run a high-tempo experimentation programme across acquisition journeys, onboarding flows, freemium activation surfaces and in-product paywalls and conversion experiences

  • Bring Marketing Thinking Into Product: meaning you’ll combine product thinking with genuine marketing instinct, including translating positioning and messaging into product experiences, improving landing pages, sign-up flows, nudges, and lifecycle touchpoints and partnering with Performance Marketing and CRM to optimise end-to-end conversion

  • Be the Analytical Centre of Gravity: meaning you’ll own and evolve the funnel model that tracks every stage from impression to first paid action.

  • Operate in an AI-Native Way: meaning we’re looking for someone who embraces AI tooling as part of how they work. You’ll use tools such as Claude Code and Claude Cowork to build lightweight tooling and prototypes, accelerate experimentation, automate recurring workflows and analysis and improve operational efficiency across the PLG funnel

  • Influence Cross-Functionally: meaning this role sits at the intersection of Product, Commercial, CRM, Sales, Vetting, and Trade Success. You’ll work collaboratively across teams to align in-product and off-product growth motions, influence without direct ownership, represent the PLG stream in planning and growth reviews and help shape the future direction of trade acquisition at Checkatrade

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:

  • Depth of experience in Growth, Product, Operations, Growth Marketing, or a related commercial role

  • Demonstrable ownership of funnels, growth metrics, or revenue-impacting initiatives

  • Strong analytical capability, including SQL (or equivalent), experiment design, statistical significance, and funnel modelling

  • Experience running structured experimentation programmes (A/B testing, multivariate testing, holdouts)

  • Strong commercial and marketing instincts, with experience improving messaging, positioning, or conversion journeys

  • Comfortable working directly with Product, Engineering, and Design teams in agile product environments

  • Bias for action, rapid iteration, and fast learning cycles

  • Demonstrable ability to leverage Claude Code in day-to-day work. Candidates must show concrete examples of using it to build tooling, run analysis, prototype surfaces, or accelerate delivery.

  • Demonstrable ability to leverage Claude Cowork to automate recurring work across files, tasks and tools. Candidates should be able to walk through a workflow they have set up and the time or quality gain it delivered.

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s just a taste:

  • Competitive salary

  • Health, well-being and learning support

  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme

  • Birthday/Special day leave

  • Buy & sell holiday scheme

  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

How we’ll get to know each other:

  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners

  • 1st stage interview with our Director of Trade Growth Products

  • 2nd Stage interview and case study with a panel from our Trade Growth team

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box
