Position Summary

Our client is looking for a highly organised, motivated, and detail-oriented Operations Officer / Supervisor to join their Operations team in Malta.

The successful candidate will be involved in the execution and administration of trade finance transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. Depending on experience, the role may also involve providing guidance to junior team members, supporting operational projects, preparing management reporting, and contributing to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support trade finance transactions throughout their lifecycle.
• Record and maintain accurate transaction information within internal systems.
• Review and verify transaction documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Prepare and review contracts, pricing letters, confirmations, insurance documentation, and other transaction-related documents.
• Ensure all required transaction conditions and documentation are satisfied.
• Coordinate and assist with settlements, repayments, fee collections, and other operational activities.
• Perform due diligence and screening checks on counterparties, transactions, and related parties.
• Maintain accurate and organised transaction records and filing systems.
• Prepare management, portfolio, and operational reports as required.
• Liaise with internal departments, external counterparties, professional advisors, and other stakeholders.
• Support the implementation of new products, systems, projects, and operational initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, controls, and procedures.
• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior team members where required.
• Assist with maintaining strong operational controls and ensuring consistent application of procedures.
• Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Requirements

• Currently residing in Malta.
• For the Officer level: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative, operations, banking, or financial services environment.
• For the Supervisor level: Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking, trade finance, financial services, or a similar operational environment.
• Previous experience in trade finance, banking, syndicated lending, loan administration, credit insurance, or related financial products will be considered a strong advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions, tasks, and priorities effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Relevant academic qualifications and/or industry knowledge will be considered an advantage.
• Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to professional development.
