Job Description

Your Responsibilities:
As part of ADM’s Treasury organization, the Treasury Trade Finance Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of the company’s trade finance portfolio, including Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, bank guarantees, bid bonds, performance bonds, and other bank-issued instruments supporting commercial and business activities. The role manages the full lifecycle of these instruments—from structuring and issuance through amendments, monitoring, and cancellation—ensuring accurate execution, compliance with internal policies and banking requirements, and effective management of contingent liabilities and banking facilities.

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of Letters of Credit (LCs) and bank guarantees issued on behalf of the company, including issuance, amendments, extensions, drawdowns, closures, and releases, covering both trade-related instruments and non-trade guarantees (e.g., landlord/lease guarantees, bid bonds, performance guarantees, and other contractual security requirements).
  • Review and approve LC and guarantee wording, supporting documentation, and issuance conditions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the underlying commercial or contractual agreements (e.g., trading contracts, leases, tenders).
  • Support internal stakeholders (business units, trading desks, Legal, Real Estate/Facilities, and other functions) in preparing and processing guarantee and LC requests, ensuring requirements are properly understood and submissions are complete and compliant.
  • Act as the escalation point for documentary discrepancies and complex issues, coordinating resolution with issuing banks, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders under tight deadlines.
  • Monitor the LC and guarantee portfolio, including contingent liability exposure, expiry dates, utilization against banking facilities, and required renewals, extensions, or releases.
  • Support banking relationships for ADM's documentary business in EMEA & APAC, acting as the primary operational contact for issuing, advising, and confirming banks on day-to day LC and guarantee matters — service levels, operational issues, and documentary execution — while partnering with Regional Treasury Centers on strategic banking matters, facility terms, fees, and trade finance facility reviews.
  • Ensure LC and guarantee activities comply with internal policies, SOX controls, and regulatory requirements by maintaining documentation, coordinating with Compliance on sanctions screening and transaction reviews, supporting audits, and escalating documentary or structural risks.
  • Lead and develop the trade finance team by managing priorities, workload allocation, process standardization, continuous improvement, digitalization initiatives, team onboarding and training, and escalation of complex transactions.
  • Provide trade finance reporting and analysis to Treasury and senior management, including LC and guarantee exposure, fees, discrepancies, and facility usage; support accounting close, forecasting, and cross-functional coordination to ensure alignment with business, contractual, and risk requirements.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or related field required; Master's degree an advantage.
  • 7+ years in trade finance, ideally within commodity trading, energy, or a bank's trade finance division, with direct LC and bank guarantee execution experience.
  • Prior people-management or team-lead experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple countries/regions with banks, trading desks, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across teams.
  • A collaborative team player with a strong cross-functional mindset and a can-do attitude.
