
Trade Effluent Regulation Officer
Circa £44,000 dependent on skills and experience
Fixed Term Contract - 12 months, 37 hours per week
Cotton Valley -Milton Keynes–hybrid role, with a 50/50 split

In this exciting role, you will effectively regulate3rdparty non-domestic discharges to ensure the business provides environmental and social prosperityto our region.You’llprovide scientific support andexpertiseto operational teams and the wider business, as well as ensuringappropriateand consistent enforcement is carried out and market retail codes are adhered to.
Reporting to the Trade EffluentRegulation Manager,you’llensure all consents are reviewed on a risk basis to make sure they are fit for purpose, and enforcing consents proportionately, consistently and in line with Anglian Water policies and procedures. This role will includetakingformalsamples,gathering evidence, collatinginformationand preparing documents required for legal proceedings, if necessary.
This role requires you to have a full UK driving license.
Key responsibilities
Setappropriateand consistent consents following current legislation
Ensure all consents are reviewed on a risk basis to ensure they are fit for purpose
Use technical and scientificexpertiseand judgement in applying procedures asrequired
Manage catchment areas asrequiredto protect AW assets and product quality
Undertake catchment reviews toidentifynew or non-regulated traders
Assistin pollution incidents and other catchment issues asrequiredand recover associated costs where possible
Provide a positive interface with external customers whilst ensuring product quality and assetcondition are protected
Ensure Wholesale charges are raisedin accordance withour published Wholesale Charges Schemeand safeguardtheincome stream for AW

What does it take to be successful?
Knowledgeof trade effluent andtrade effluent regulation
Knowledge of water recycling sewage treatment process and collection systems
Able todemonstrateleadershipexperience to work independently and manage relationships with key stakeholders
Experience of dealing with external stakeholders
Experience of working alone in an industrial environment
Able to assess risk related impacts of non-domestic discharges
Plan, prioritise and manage own workload in alargely self-managed environment
Adhere to procedures, regulations, GDPR and customer confidentiality requirements
Able to adapt communication style (both written and verbal) to suit a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
