HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for day-to-day oversight of transactional import and export compliance, ensuring goods are imported, exported, and shipped in compliance with corporate policies, CBP & EAR rules and regulations.

This is an in-office position based near Houston, TX.

EXPECTATIONS

· Analyze import documentation for completeness and compliance with CBP requirements

· Prepare import documents for the customs broker

· Monitor customs broker performance against SOPs and compliance KPIs

· Prepare export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and carnets

· File Electronic Export Information (EEI) via the Automated Export System (AES)

· Track and report the status of all imports and exports

· Maintain records and reports of all imports

· Provide import and export guidance to cross-functional teams

· Assist the Trade Compliance Manager with investigations and audits

ESSENTIALS

· Licensed US Customs Broker (LCB) preferred

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

· 5+ years of experience with the EAR, CBP, HTS, and Schedule B

· Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers

· Experience with steel commodities including pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves

· Strong understanding of the EAR, HTS, and Section 232 and 301 tariffs and exemptions

· Proficiency with MS Office and ERP software and reporting

· Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills

· Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
