Your next role

As a fully trained Trade Assistant you will be able to complete tasks related to the cleaning and blasting of a gas turbine engine component in accordance with the manufacturer specification and company procedures. The role also includes assisting qualified technicians with scheduled maintenance on various engine components such as but not limited to, fuel nozzle sets.

This position is a SSAA (Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity) and requires the holder of the position to fully comply with Vector's Drugs and Alcohol Management Plan unless otherwise advised.

Other duties include:

  • Clean engine components in preparation for pre and post NDT and detail inspection using chemical cleaning and media blasting
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Conduct all work in accordance with company policies, quality procedures, manufactures and customer specification and industry regulations
  • Complete all documentation related to the work being performed
  • Ensure stocks are maintained in accordance to legislation and technical manual requirements.
  • Support all areas of the workshop to keep stock levels maintained, areas clean and support Engine Technicians with tasks.
  • Take on daily task assignments and plans work to meet daily targets and customer requirements
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement programs and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, working practices and team efficiency, acts as continuous improvement champion as required
  • Utilise IT systems as appropriate
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments and attend meetings if requested
  • Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety Regulations, Business Ethics and financial controls
  • Report unsafe conditions and practices and make safety suggestions
  • Other duties as directed by Section Lead / Manager.

Your Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with some post-secondary education or experience working in a workshop environment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • A strong commitment to WHS requirements
  • Understanding of chemical awareness
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • An understanding of MS Windows, Office and Computer Maintenance Systems
  • Ability to use and care for precision measuring equipment
  • Experience in adhering to quality procedures and documentation including process documentation, parts routing procedures, engineering repair instructions, detailed work instructions and non-conformance report system

You are physically fit and possess sufficient strength to safely maneuver all parts requiring processing (using available hoists, etc.) without risk of personal injury or damage to the parts and:

  • Willing to walk to various areas of the facility throughout the day
  • Willing to wear PPE i.e., safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and any other PPR that is required to perform tasks in the area.
  • Willing to work in an environment that contains humidity, chemicals and odors.
  • Able to meet the working conditions and physical demands such as a combination of standing, pulling, bending, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, grasping, sitting, working with computers and using specialty tools.
  • Able to exert up to 23 kg of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 kg of force frequently.

This a full-time role based in our Brisbane workshop and due to Aviation regulations, this role is classed as a Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity and requires the holder to comply and qualify under our Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
