
Position Details:
This position is represented by a labor union
Drivers hired as Casuals under the union collective bargaining agreement will be on call 24/7 to cover needed shifts.
If a Casual driver is subsequently offered a position as a Regular under the collective bargaining agreement, a set schedule will be available, as determined by a driver bid by seniority.
Responsibilities:
Provide safe, professional and efficient operation of a commercial motor vehicle and other company equipment. Operation includes performing basic functions like driving forwards, driving backwards and maneuvering in tight spaces
Provide friendly and courteous service to Schnucks stores.
Unload and deliver products to Schnucks stores, including with use of a powered industrial truck or hand jack.
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Pre/Post trip inspections on tractors and trailers.
Compliance with laws, regulations and rules related to operation of a commercial motor vehicle, including DOT regulations.
Using an electronic logging device (ELD) for logging positions and driving times.
Drivers hired as Casuals will be on call 24/7 to cover needed shifts per union collective bargaining agreement.
Use of company communication devices in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with laws and company policy
Drivers are required to operate vehicles equipped with In-Cab Video Safety Systems and Vehicle Telematics.
You must participate in regular coaching sessions and complete Targeted Driver Retraining as identified through Event-Based Recording
Qualifications:
Current CDL Class A License from your state of residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
Must possess a Valid DOT physical card.
Must be able to pass DOT physical/drug test.
At least 2 years of recent Class A commercial tractor-trailer driving experience or equivalent driving experience in the military
No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents* while operating a personal and/or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No preventable DOT recordable accidents* (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last ten (10) years.
No preventable accident* resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history in personal or commercial motor vehicle.
Acceptable references from past employers
Must be at least 21 years old
You must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, as required by DOT regulations, MVR and background check
FMCSA’s Clearinghouse Registration required.
Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification upon hire.
Must be available to cover all shifts per union collective bargaining agreement (transportation operates 24/7).
Preferred Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree

Must be able to work an entire shift (8-14 hours) as scheduled

* The preventability of any accidents will be determined by Schnucks based on the ATA guidelines
