Could you be the Traction Project Engineering Manager (f/m/d) in Zurich we’re looking for?

140 years of Swiss railway history meet modern solutions for green mobility in Zurich. With 300 colleagues, our Zurich site serves as a global competence center for high-performance traction technology and a development hub for locomotives, bogies, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as services for the local and global markets. Our corporate functions play a key role in upporting and continuously improving the performance of our sites. You’ll report to Manuel SAUTER - Site Project Engineering Manager in Zürich - CH, and work alongside passionate, motivated and dedicated international teammates.

Your future role

You'll specifically take care of leading traction project developments and delivery.

Day to day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business and outside of it (Engineering, Quality Product Management, Procurement, Customers, etc).

You’ll be the person the team turns to for momentum and to push projects and R&D forward. No two days are the same, but you’ll manage development targets, requirements, and schedules while enabling those around you to excel.

You’ll specifically take care of:

  • Lead development and order execution projects for the traction chain and its components for locomotives, commuters, and high-speed trains

  • Functionally lead a project team of up to 10 cross-functional core team members

  • Be responsible for project planning and budget

  • Manage projects across different lifecycles, from R&D to order execution and warranty

  • Drive decisions and results

  • Represent Engineering within the project core team and manage interfaces with stakeholders and participating units

  • Coordinate engineering work packages and deliverables

  • Plan prototype purchasing, building, and testing in Zürich

  • Support the manufacturing site in starting serial production

  • Make technical decisions and trade-offs within the project team

  • Manage changes and product configurations

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traction and product development

  • Strong knowledge of the traction business

  • Ability to coordinate and ensure collaboration across multi-site and cross functional teams

  • Ability to understand the organization, processes, and products involved, and to decide independently when significant impact on QCDP requires escalation

  • A flair for leading and influencing others

  • A proactive approach and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Desire to work collaboratively in a multinational company

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey—the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career.

You’ll also enjoy:

  • A dynamic work environment with a permanent position at a leading company for green mobility

  • A competitive remuneration package and benefits such as company pension plans and discounted tickets for public transport (e.g. ZVV Bonuspass)

  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working models to optimize work-life balance

  • Growth opportunities to steer your career across functions and countries

  • Excellent training opportunities through our award-winning Alstom University and participation in the company’s innovation culture through idea management programs

  • A modern and collaborative workplace featuring mentor and buddy programs, diversity and inclusion initiatives, CSR activities, and engaging employee events

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
