Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. The Division

The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement. We’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.

The Job

• Assist in planning and implementing maintenance programmes for tracks and fringe areas.
• Assist in raceday operations, including surface preparation, going inspections, and supervision of casual labour etc.
• Develop practical skills in track maintenance, machinery operation, track assessment, sampling techniques, and implementation of standard operating procedures.
• Monitor the quality of maintenance works and track conditions against prescribed standards.
• Develop knowledge of occupational safety and health standards and agricultural chemical applications in track maintenance.
• Assist in supervising frontline operational staff and ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements.
• Perform a variety of administrative and clerical support.
• Assist in project management, research activities, and data collection for track and turf studies.
• Support contingency and emergency operations as required.
• Be required to work outside Hong Kong.

About You

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant and Soil Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese. Understanding basic Mandarin is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work long and unsociable hours, including weekends, statutory holidays, and under challenging weather conditions.
• Enthusiasm to learn, develop professionally, and gain hands-on operational experience.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid driving licence (Class 1 and/or 2) is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in using Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to undertake rotational training assignments and work in a dynamic outdoor environment.
• Candidates may be required to work outside Hong Kong.
