Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour – up to $24.00 based on experience

Job Type: Full-Time

Travel: Up to 75% travel required

Build and Maintain the Track That Keeps Operations Moving

Road & Rail Services is hiring Track Workers / Equipment Operators to join our rail maintenance team based out of Mulberry, Florida.

This is a hands-on railroad construction and maintenance position for someone who doesn't mind getting dirty, working outdoors, traveling for projects, and putting in a physically demanding day's work.

You'll work alongside an experienced crew maintaining and repairing railroad track at various locations. Depending on the project, you may replace railroad ties, work with rail and track components, operate equipment, cut materials, clear right-of-way areas, or assist with other track construction and maintenance activities.

This position requires up to 75% travel. Candidates must be comfortable traveling to project locations and being away from home when assignments require it.

Previous railroad experience is helpful, but candidates with experience in construction, heavy equipment, excavation, landscaping, agriculture, utilities, road crews, concrete, outdoor maintenance, or other physically demanding trades are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

As a Track Worker / Equipment Operator, you may:

Install, remove, and replace railroad ties

Assist with rail installation, alignment, and replacement

Perform track maintenance and repair activities

Operate assigned construction and track-maintenance equipment

Use hand tools, power tools, and other railroad maintenance equipment

Cut, drill, grind, and handle steel and track components

Assist with positioning and securing rail and other materials

Load, unload, move, and stage tools, equipment, and materials

Clear brush, vegetation, debris, and other obstructions from work areas

Inspect track areas and identify visible maintenance or safety concerns

Perform general construction and maintenance duties as assigned

Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition

Follow company, customer, and railroad safety requirements

Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Work closely with crew members to safely complete projects on schedule

What We're Looking For

We're looking for dependable employees who understand that railroad track work is physical, outdoor work.

Qualified candidates should be able to:

Travel up to 75% based on project requirements

Perform physically demanding work for extended periods

Regularly lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Bend, squat, kneel, reach, stand, and walk throughout the workday

Work on ballast, uneven ground, and other outdoor surfaces

Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and other changing weather conditions

Safely use hand and power tools

Follow detailed safety instructions

Work effectively as part of a crew

Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality

Adapt to changing project locations and work assignments

Previous experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, railroad maintenance, track construction, welding, excavation, farming, landscaping, or similar outdoor work is a plus.

Pay & Benefits

Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour

Candidates with relevant railroad, construction, or equipment experience may qualify for up to $24.00 per hour based on experience.
