The Backup & Storage Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and support of enterprise backup, storage, and data protection platforms across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role ensures data availability, integrity, performance, and recoverability, supporting business continuity and disaster recovery requirements in line with enterprise standards.rnThis position covers end‑to‑end backup operations including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, restoration, replication, and recovery using enterprise backup technologies, as well as storage operations such as provisioning, capacity management, SAN fabric administration, performance monitoring, and replication across NetApp / HP storage platforms. The role also supports cloud backup and storage services in AWS and Azure.rnThe engineer works closely with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, support DR testing, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with ITIL processes, SLAs, and governance requirements, while providing reliable 24×7 operational support.
Backup Responsibilitiesrn• Plan, install, configure, and maintain enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault and Data Domain.rn• Configure and manage backup, restore, replication, and recovery operations across Windows, Linux, databases, and virtualization platforms.rn• Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and resolve performance issues.rn• Implement and maintain SLA‑based backup policies and retention strategies.rn• Perform test restores and DR validation activities.rn• Manage backup infrastructure including tape libraries, disk, and cloud backups.rn• Support backup operations in AWS and Azure environments.rnStorage Responsibilitiesrn• Design, install, configure, and operate enterprise storage platforms (NetApp / HP).rn• Provision and manage storage including LUN creation, zoning, masking, and capacity planning.rn• Manage SAN fabrics including Brocade switches, zoning, VSANs, and ISL configurations.rn• Monitor storage performance, availability, and utilization.rn• Perform clone, snapshot, mirror, and replication operations (SnapMirror / SnapVault).rn• Troubleshoot storage and SAN‑related incidents.rn• Coordinate with vendors for hardware replacement, warranty, and escalations.rnAdditional Job Description –rn• Strong understanding of enterprise backup and storage architecture.rn• Knowledge of DR, replication, and contingency testing.rn• Experience with cloud storage and backup services in AWS and Azure.rn• Familiarity with ITIL processes including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.rn• Strong documentation and reporting skills.rn• Ability to work in 24x7 rotational shifts and on weekends if required.rn
