Computer Hardware LAB and Imaging SME

Role Summary

The Computer Hardware LAB and Imaging SME is responsible for designing, operating, maintaining, and continuously improving enterprise hardware laboratories and endpoint imaging services. The role supports device lifecycle management, OS deployment, testing, validation, automation, hardware certification, troubleshooting, and technical governance for desktops, laptops, workstations, and peripheral devices.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise hardware laboratories, test environments, and device validation activities.
• Own Windows OS imaging, deployment, servicing, and image lifecycle management.
• Build and maintain golden images using Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), MDT, and Autopilot.
• Perform hardware compatibility testing, driver packaging, BIOS/Firmware validation, and certification.
• Coordinate new hardware introductions and technology refresh programs.
• Develop automated deployment, imaging, and reporting solutions using PowerShell and scripting tools.
• Create lab standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
• Support endpoint security baselines, encryption, compliance, and patch validation.
• Provide L3/L4 escalation support for imaging and hardware-related incidents.

Lead proof-of-concepts, pilots, and enterprise hardware testing initiatives

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills

• Windows 10/11 Enterprise deployment and administration
• Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, MECM/SCCM, MDT
• OS deployment task sequences and image engineering
• Device driver management and firmware lifecycle management
• PowerShell automation and scripting
• Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID integration
• Endpoint analytics and reporting
• Hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Lab asset management and inventory controls
• ITIL incident, problem, change, and release management

Hardware LAB Management

• Build and maintain lab infrastructure, racks, imaging stations, switches, and test networks.
• Manage device inventory, asset tracking, reservations, and utilization reporting.
• Validate desktops, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, and peripherals.
• Establish standard test procedures and quality gates.
• Coordinate vendor engagement and hardware qualification testing.

Imaging & Deployment Responsibilities

• Create and maintain global standard images.
• Package applications and manage deployment rings.
• Validate OS patches, updates, BIOS, and driver releases.
• Support zero-touch and remote provisioning processes.
• Maintain imaging performance, reliability, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years experience in enterprise endpoint management and imaging.
• Strong understanding of Windows architecture and device deployment.
• Experience working within global enterprise environments.

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
• ITIL Foundation
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent
