The Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school. We serve students in grades 6 to 12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. We provide an interdisciplinary liberal arts education that nurtures compassionate, globally aware and environmentally conscious individuals who find joy in learning and are ready to inspire and innovate in our interconnected world.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the head coach in all aspects of coaching the team and program.

  • Teach fundamentals, techniques, and skills, utilizing positive and developmentally-appropriate methods.

  • Prioritize the health and safety of the athletes.

  • Generate enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork among students for the program.

  • Model respectful interaction and sportsmanship with athletes, opponents, colleagues, and parents, and emphasize sportsmanship and leadership with athletes.

  • Philosophical alignment with striving to win while promoting the bigger picture of character, commitment, and team supportiveness.

  • Attend clinics and conferences to maintain coaching standards and develop coaching expertise.

  • Work cooperatively with NWS colleagues.

  • Understand and adhere to sport rules and regulations.

  • Be an energetic self-starter.



Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the School’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; environmental sustainability, and global perspective.

A commitment to a learning and working culture where all community members feel seen, valued, and heard.

Expertise and experience coaching the sport at the high school or collegiate level.

Current training in First Aid, CPR, concussion management, and sudden cardiac arrest.

Clear Washington State Background check.

Competitive coaching stipend for the season is $2547.00-6856.00, based on years of experience. This is a stipend only position. Season begins March 2nd and ends May 25th; there will be several coaches' meetings prior to the season as well. Availability: Monday - Saturday.
