
Under the direction of the Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse, is responsible for observing the patient and reporting observations to the RN/LPN to protect the patient from injury or harm to themselves or others and to prevent elopement. This position will support all the facilities in the market as needed.
Participates in the protection of patients who pose a threat to themselves or others. Performs a variety of non-clinical duties to ensure that patients and visitors are provided with services that reflect the hospital's commitment to a safe, secure, and customer-focused environment. Keeps patients under constant observation. Escorts patient for safety, assists with patient positioning, transfer, and escort to testing as needed. Uses de-escalation skills and therapeutic distractions as warranted. Communicates with the patient care team, e.g., RN/PCA, about patient concerns or changes in patient condition. Reports any missing or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel promptly.
Education:
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
Preferred: 6 months of hospital experience
Certifications:
Required: AHA BLS
