Job Description

In this position...

The Opportunity: Build the Readiness Engine Behind Ford’s Next Electrical Platform

We are forming a new capability to integrate Ford’s FNV3.X next-generation electrical architecture into test platforms—starting with electrical breadboards and test benches that represent the full vehicle electrical ecosystem (ECUs, harnesses, switches, lamps, and high-voltage content).
This role is not about hands-on assembly. It’s about building the system that makes assembly—and testing—possible. You will operate at the intersection of engineering intent and lab execution, removing friction so the VISE teams can build, power on, and iterate faster. There isn’t a fully defined playbook yet, which is exactly why this role matters: you will help create it.

We are looking for a hardware readiness owner who can lead part ordering and BOM validation end-to-end for platform breadboards and benches. You will drive alignment across D&R, feature/software engineering, and VISE lab build teams to ensure the right hardware shows up, matches the intended BOM, and is truly test-ready on release timing.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who is proactive, structured, and comfortable operating in a fast-changing scope environment.

What you'll do...

Own Hardware Readiness for Breadboards & Test Properties

  • Serve as the single point of contact and accountability for hardware readiness across electrical breadboards and benches supporting FNV3.X integration.
  • Translate engineering needs into an executable readiness plan, ensuring builds are unblocked and testable on time.

Lead BOM Validation and Buildable Content Definition

  • Own BOM validation with D&R and software/feature engineering, ensuring content is complete, accurate, and aligned to test intent.
  • Proactively drive closure on common failure modes, especially parts not matching FEDEBOM part numbers, by asking the right questions early and forcing alignment before orders/builds proceed.
  • Identify and drive decisions on surrogate parts, alternates, quantities, maturity, and constraints to keep builds moving without losing intent.

Drive Parts Ordering, Approvals, and Tracking (GPIRS)

  • Lead part ordering through GPIRS, pushing requests through approvals and coordinating with Purchasing/partners to prevent schedule slips.
  • Track ordered hardware through delivery to MRD, and update systems/status to maintain a single source of readiness truth.

Create and Operationalize a Hardware Readiness Gate

  • Establish and run a hardware readiness gate (cadence, checklist, and escalation paths) to ensure hardware, BOMs, and ordering status are aligned before builds begin.
  • Build lightweight visibility tools (readiness trackers, shortage/risk lists, action logs) to drive fast decisions and keep stakeholders aligned.

Cross-Functional Execution in a High-Change Environment

  • Partner closely with engineering teams and VISE lab build teams to manage shifting priorities while protecting release timing.
  • Communicate clearly and early when tradeoffs are required; escalate blockers with options, not just problems.

You'll have...

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Ford Engineering, prototype builds, PMT, Program Management, Platform Integration, or hardware readiness/launch-style execution roles.
  • Strong capability in BOM management and BOM validation, including driving alignment meetings and resolving mismatches across teams.
  • Demonstrated strength in coordination and execution: organizing ambiguous inputs into an actionable plan, tracking actions to closure, and maintaining schedule discipline.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and shifting scope, while keeping partners aligned and outcomes predictable.

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Ford systems and data flow such as GPIRS, FEDE, WERS, and Teamcenter (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly).
  • Familiarity with lab build/test environments (breadboards, benches, VISE/HIL adjacency) and what “test-ready” looks like in practice.
  • Exposure to high-voltage architectures; HV certification is a plus.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

• Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
• Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
• Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
