Role Purpose

The Tower Coordinator will provide control to aircraft arriving or departing in the non-movement area, in to and out of ramp/gate area in safe flow of arrivals and departures to improve on-time performance and reduce taxi delays in efficient manner, and by issuing instructions to pilots to keep aircraft properly separated in the non-movement area. The Tower Controller will provide ramp traffic advisory services to pilots including maintenance crew when towing aircraft, ramp conditions, and safety.

What you will be doing

  • Able to make the following decisions:
  1. Control of aircraft to and from ramp in the non-movement areas.
  2. Anticipate aircraft movements in coordination with FAA Ground Control.
  3. Sequence and separation for pushback and engine start at the gates.
  4. Prepare for sequence of arriving traffic prior to arrival at the ramp.
  5. The merging of arriving and pushback traffic that will assure all aircraft equitable treatment and provide for minimum delays.
  • Able to resolves problems with:
  1. Communications equipment
  2. Autobahn Flight arrival Monitor (Ground Radar) display
  3. Gate Explorer display
  4. Gate Management computer programs.
  • Instruct aircraft how and when to push-back, instruct aircraft when to taxi, who to follow, and frequency transfer points to metering.
  • coordinate with airport authority when necessary.
  • Update Flight Information in all applicable programs
  • Required to attend the mandatory training imposed by the Company and Airlines as per job role
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess valid US driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and all pre-employment testing
  • Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Pass FBI background and obtain US Customs Seal
  • Must be flexible and willing to work any shift 7 day a week operation including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Must have high school diploma, GED or six months experience as a Tower Coordinator
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
  • Competent in handling difficult situations
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred Experience and Education

  • College degree with aviation focus
  • Ramp Tower or FAA Air Traffic Control School
  • Aircraft Dispatch certification, Pilots license (SPC, SPL, PPL, CPL, CFI)
  • FAA Radio communication phraseology.
  • Strong radio communication skills
