Bardes Plastics Inc. – Toolmaker/Toolroom Supervisor

This isn’t just another toolmaker role, if you’re the kind of expert who naturally takes the lead, you’ll recognize the difference right away. We’re looking for a hands-on Toolmaker/Tool Room Supervisor who can do more than build and repair tooling, you’ll set the pace, solve the tough problems, and elevate the entire toolroom operation. From troubleshooting complex tooling issues to guiding a team and keeping production on track, you’ll be the go-to technical authority. This is a role designed for someone ready to step up, take ownership, and be rewarded accordingly.

Compensation & Schedule

  • 73K -94K/year, based on experience and skillset
  • 4-day workweek (Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts) Flexible Schedule can be discussed in interview
  • 7 paid holidays
  • Attendance bonus
  • Safety shoe reimbursement up to $75

Job Function:

  • Build, repair, and maintain tooling, molds, dies, and related components.
  • Plan and schedule toolroom workflow to support production priorities and deadlines.
  • Analyze tooling projects, production capabilities, and lead times to ensure efficient completion of work.
  • Supervise day-to-day work activities of toolroom personnel through planning, scheduling, and delegation.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and identify root causes of failures or inefficiencies.
  • Ensure tooling is properly assembled, aligned, and functioning to specification.
  • Provide coaching, teaching, and mentoring to toolroom employees to improve skills and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with department managers and other company personnel regarding tooling needs and status.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized services such as welding, polishing, or plating.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, reports, and other paperwork requirements.
  • Comply with, and uphold all occupational safety policies, food safety policies, and work rules.
  • Set up and operate toolroom machines as needed.

Basic requirements:

  • Strong experience as a Toolmaker, Tool & Die Maker, or similar role.
  • Experience in tooling environments such as thermoforming, injection molding, die casting, or stamping dies.
  • Ability to supervise and lead toolroom personnel, including delegating and monitoring work activities.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve tooling and mechanical issues.
  • Ability to recognize quality standards and maintain tight tolerances.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to complete reports and documentation using computer software applications.
  • Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications.
  • Ability to safely operate toolroom equipment and demonstrate proper setup and operation to others.
