Toolmaker / Machinist – Direct Hire

Location: Farmington, CT
Work Environment: Machine Shop
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some flexibility)
Pay Range: $35.00 – $40.00
Hours: 40 + hours per week
Travel: None

Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a precision manufacturing company in Farmington, CT to identify an experienced Toolmaker / Machinist for a direct hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished toolmaker or machinist with strong inspection capabilities and the mathematical aptitude required for complex setups and high-tolerance work.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary daily responsibilities include operating and maintaining a vertical mill (ProtoTRAK), Haas TM2 CNC Milling Center, EZ-Path CNC Lathe, OD grinder, and surface grinder.

• Conduct detailed inspections to ensure tight tolerances and quality standards

• Operate and set up:

  • Manual milling machines

  • CNC milling machines

  • OD Grinders

  • Surface Grinders

• Utilize sine plates and precision measurement tools

• Apply strong shop math and trigonometry skills independently

• Support toolmaking and machining activities as required

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Toolmaker and/or Machinist

• Experience with precision inspection and high-tolerance work

• Familiarity with sine plates and advanced measurement techniques

• Ability to independently perform complex setups and calculations

Preferred Qualifications

• Accomplished toolmaker willing to be trained in Jig Grinding if not already experienced

• Experience in a job shop or high-precision manufacturing environment

Compensation

• Pay Range: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience
