Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Tooling Engineer.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Tooling Engineer is responsible of define and implement the functions of product reviews, DFM, Tool design, manufacturing, validation, troubleshooting, assembly, modification and replacement of molds, dies and tooling, ensuring compliance with product and process specifications, maximizing efficiency in the use of resources and favorably impacting operation indicators such as they are Quality, Service and Cost.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop RFQ for plastic injection molds.
• Work with documentation on transfer mold from other Eaton locations.
• DFM & Product reviews.
• Work with overseas suppliers / tool shops tool design reviews & manufacturing.
• Follow up on tool trials and part validation process.
• Establish strategies / parameters for the use of team capabilities.
• Coordinate tool correction action for new and ongoing manufacturing issues (Root cause analysis).
• Lead tooling validations at production sites.
• Lead Eng Changes for new product revisions.
• Support for the diagnosis and repair of chronic mold issues.
• Works with Product engineering & Quality Assurance personnel to ensure that parts produced from tooling are of acceptable quality.
• Maintain an overall good summary and tracking of the project.
• Support Engineering changes for current production tools.
• Support runs for the new molds with production team to ensure a successful release process.
• Implement lessons learns.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering (Polymers), Tool Engineering, Related Careers
• Plastic injection mold design & manufacturing.
• Experience with small & precise plastic part designs.
• Experience with different types of molding (silicone, thermoplastic, thermoset, extrusion, overmolding)
• GD&T
• Knowledge of mold manufacturing methods
• Hot runner & Cold runner systems
• Strong understanding of reverse engineering
• Plastic product feasibilities
• Mold flow analysis review
• 3-5 years of experience in similar positions
• Fluent in English/Spanish
• Cost Out projects experience
• Solving Problem techniques (5 Why's, 8D's, etc.)
• Project management
• Solid Works, Mold design (Type class 101,102,103 & 104 according to SPI)
