Overall Job Purpose

Ensure the availability, airworthiness, and full compliance of all tooling and equipment by maintaining effective control, calibration, storage, and traceability systems in line with operational and regulatory requirements. Drive the development and adaptation of tooling solutions to support shop needs, while implementing lean principles and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and organization. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of digital systems for tooling tracking and control, enhancing efficiency, accountability, and data visibility across the maintenance operation.

Key Responsabilities

Tooling Control & Compliance

  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly controlled, maintained, calibrated, and available for operational use in accordance with MOE and regulatory requirements.

  • Control tool calibration status, ensuring timely execution and full traceability.

  • Remove from service, identify, and secure any unserviceable or out-of-calibration tooling.

  • Perform inspections upon receipt of tooling (new, repaired, or calibrated).

  • Manage quarantine processes and report tool condition to the Quality Department.

  • Maintain accurate tooling records and certification documentation within the approved database system.

Operations & Planning

  • Manage tool issue, return, storage, and loan processes, ensuring full accountability.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Planning/Scheduling to ensure tooling availability aligns with maintenance inputs.
  • Ensure availability of required consumables in the hangar.
  • Support MMx projects in sourcing components and consumables when required.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Manage procurement of tooling and equipment, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Negotiate with approved vendors for calibration, repair, and acquisition services.
  • Prepare CAPEX / CAR documentation and support financial planning.
  • Liaise with external suppliers for tooling and software development activities.

Tooling Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Design, develop, or adapt tooling solutions to meet operational needs.
  • Manage internally manufactured tools in accordance with approved procedures and Quality oversight.
  • Implement Lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives within the tool crib and shop.
  • Develop automation solutions, data analysis tools, and process digitalization initiatives.

Leadership & Governance

  • Define and maintain standard practices for tooling usage and control.
  • Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained.
  • Train personnel on tooling processes and specialized equipment when required.
  • Identify tools requiring specific training and report to Quality.

Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with MOE.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as the focal point for tooling.
  • Manage corrective actions through to closure in coordination with Quality.
  • Implement and monitor all EHS requirements applicable to the area.
  • Ensure proper use and preservation of GSE, facility equipment, and tooling assets.

Network & Reporting

  • Coordinate with European and global CS network for tool sharing and alignment.
  • Maintain tooling data in global databases.
  • Provide regular financial and operational updates to the Maintenance Manager.
