Job Description

The Inventory Specialist is essential to operating the Centralized Tool Ordering & Maintenance (CTOM) program. One of the CTOM program's missions is to make tool repairs and ordering for the field easier. This position delivers on that mission, and where broken, used, and new tools will flow in and out from field locations, manufacturers, and suppliers. This position is mainly responsible for managing the warehouse logistics of the CTOM and Tool Repair Center space.

Their primary responsibility is to ship, receive, and actively track the inventory of shop equipment, tools, and supplies needed for the Shop Equipment & Tooling Support (SETS) program, field locations, and other corporate initiatives. This role would engage with locations to provide tracking updates and help solve tool inventory concerns. This role is significant in keeping field operations aware of the company's tool assets to control additional spending on equipment and tools.

Major Responsibilities:

Manage Warehouse Logistics and Supplies:

- Receive and ship tools and equipment using inventory management software (IMS) to record, track and maintain all inventory related data.

- Utilize UPS WorldShip software to generate shipping labels, track shipments, and process shipping costs.

- Collect data to assist supervisor in filing UPS claims when shipments are reported to be lost. Recycle and store shipping materials for reuse and help to ensure an adequate inventory of shipping and stationary supplies for future use.

- Build and maintain a positive rapport with various vendors while reducing costs whenever possible.

35%Tooling Quality Control:

- Inspect tools and equipment during receiving and shipping process for any physical damage or failure that may prevent it from functioning properly.

- Perform necessary research to identify and document location, tool serial number, status and shipping details to ensure proper location communication and receiving and billing accuracy.

Maintain and Accurate Inventory:

- Oversee and evaluate inventory management. Conduct weekly parts checks and monthly cycle counts to ensure accuracy and minimize inventory write-offs.

- Assist with managing/resolving pending shipments with locations that have aged or are erroneous.

Local Inventory Controller

- Oversee and evaluate CTOM inventory rotation.

- Participate in monthly inventory stock level reviews with supervisor. Ensure suppliers deliver orders defect-free and on time.

- Prepare used tools for inventory, sale or disposable. Generate shipping labels, and ship parts.

Maintain a Lean/5S environment:

- Ensure a clean and safe warehouse environment, utilizing 5s methodology. They have the main responsibility to ensure their tools and area are kept in order to perform the work on a daily basis.

- Associate will maintain a clean workstation, mitigating fluid, grease, dust or other shop buildup on all surfaces each day.

- Associate will apply the 5S and Lean methodology to their workstation/work area.

Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain preferred. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required.

- Minimum 2 years experience in Inventory Management, Logistics or supply chain management experience required in lieu of Degree.

- Minimum of 2 years experience in DPF Inventory Specialist, DPF Quality Specialist I or Maintenance Coordinator experience or Mechanical experience in trucking industry preferred.

- Great problem-solving skills, able to put together the answer with limited information and guidance.

- Proficient with MS Office, Smartsheet, UPS WorldShip and other inventory management systems.

- Mechanical experience to identify good vs. bad parts or tooling and equipment.

- Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting.

- Ability to easily multi-task and ensure 100% accuracy (between tasks, answering phones/emails and other tasks).

- Ability to understand financial implications based on decisions made.

- Ability to train, coach and mentor new teams members on procedures and standards.

- Excellent customer experience skills – phone calls / email communication

- Great written and verbal communication.

- Organizational skills to keep area and inventory tidy and clean.

- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
