About the Role
MSDE shapes the SDLC at Morgan Stanley - implementing the tools, systems, and processes used by 25,000+ developers firmwide.
We're hiring engineers to scale agentic AI coding tools across a global financial services firm. This isn't demos or experiments - it's enabling real capabilities, for real developers, in production environments, with the risk controls a regulated firm requires.
You'll work across multiple tools - including GitHub Copilot (CLI, Coding Agent, Agent Mode), Codex, Claude Code, and others - supporting rollout, feature enablement, integration, and ongoing operation. You'll also design and implement technical risk mitigations that allow these tools to run securely at scale.
What You'll Do
Tool Enablement & Platform Engineering
Evaluate, configure, test, and roll out new agentic AI features
Integrate tools with internal context sources (e.g., Jira, knowledge bases) via MCP and other mechanisms
Support context engineering - helping developers bootstrap AI-assisted workflows with the right prompts, instructions, and configurations
Risk Mitigations & Controls
Design and implement controls: sandboxed execution, restricted proxy configurations, entitlement-scoped identities, audit logging
Partner with cybersecurity, SecDesign, and risk teams to evolve SDLC controls for AI-generated code
Monitor DevOps and risk measures (change failure rates, vulnerability trends) to ensure adoption isn't degrading quality or security
Global Rollout & Support
Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve issues across all time zones
Build automation, self-service tooling, and onboarding flows to accelerate rollout
Contribute to documentation, training resources, and developer-facing knowledge bases
SDLC Evolution
Evolve firmwide SDLC processes, tooling, and validation controls for an agentic AI future
Build automated PR review capabilities, AI-assisted code review tooling, and pipeline enhancements
Engage with risk and regulatory groups to ensure controls keep pace with tool capabilities What You Bring
Engineering & Platform Skills
Software engineering fundamentals - clean, maintainable code and understanding of production systems
Hands-on experience with agentic AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Amp) - real usage, not just awareness
Experience with infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or developer tooling at scale
Familiarity with SDLC tooling (CI/CD, code review workflows, vulnerability scanning, change management) is a plus
Security & Risk Awareness
Understanding of security concepts relevant to AI deployment - sandboxing, proxy configuration, entitlement management, supply chain security
Experience in a regulated industry where risk controls and compliance matters are a plus
Exposure to context engineering (MCP, prompt engineering, AI configuration at organizational scale) is a plus
Mindset
Genuine enthusiasm for AI coding tools and how developers use them
Bias toward action, experimentation, and practical outcomes
Comfort with ambiguity as tools, policies, and priorities evolve quickly
Clear communicator - whether it's a PR description, a risk proposal, or a Slack thread
Collaborative across teams, regions, and experience levels
Why This Role
One of the most visible engineering efforts in the firm - agentic AI coding tools are a top technology priority for 2026 and you'll be at the center of it. Shape how 25,000+ engineers build software, work across cutting-edge tools (Copilot, Amp, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini), and solve real platform problems with real accountability.
